Maybe this is a good spot to ask about the Open Document format. I have not noticed much about this but it seems to extend the idea of Open Access to a format for documents that is free to access as in Open Office 2 for example. In theory any form of collaboration could be available through open source software.
Is this XML based format better for archives thatn PDF? Some people said so at a recent Social Source conference. Adobe is on the Oasis project but I don't know how Open Documents and Adobe XML work together. Maybe there is something on this blog I have yet to find.
